SAGINAW, MI — A deadly shooting on Saginaw’s West Side Wednesday evening has left one man dead and another wounded, prompting an ongoing investigation by local and state authorities. The Saginaw Police Department confirmed the incident occurred around 6:11 p.m. on April 30 in the 1300 block of South Michigan Avenue.

Upon responding to multiple reports of gunfire in the area, officers arrived on scene to find two adult men suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel were quickly dispatched, and both victims were transported to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.

Tragically, 41-year-old Michael Wayne Carroll of Saginaw succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Carroll’s death marks another instance of gun violence impacting the local community, which has grappled with several such incidents in recent months.

The second victim, a 66-year-old Saginaw resident whose name has not been publicly released, sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening. Authorities say he is currently in stable condition and recovering under medical supervision.

The Saginaw Police Department is leading the investigation in collaboration with the Michigan State Police Major Crimes Unit. So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and officials have not released details regarding a possible motive or suspect. Investigators have also not disclosed whether the two victims were targeted or if the incident was random.
